What's Been Going On

So.
A lot's been going on lately.
Let me start with the image you see here, which came as a complete surprise to me. I was checking my portfolio's analytics when I noticed a few people were finding me on Journo Portfolio, which, uh, hosts my portfolio. Meta, right? Well, turns out it's more than meta: it's also really cool. Journo Portfolio features example portfolios for folks looking to set one up and, while mine wasn't one of the main ones, it was near the top of the "Other Examples" section. I don't know how long it's been there or how long it'll stay there, but regardless, it's great to see my hard work being noticed in such an unexpected and roundabout way.
In other news, I've shifted my schedule and priorities quite a bit. First off, I joined a writing community: Hope Writers. Though they have a Christian leaning (which is perfectly fine—I'm just not religious, so that part has no draw for me), they mostly just talk about writing, which has been wonderful. I have yet to decide if they're right for me, but so far it's been nice to feel more connected to other writers—especially since COVID-19 still. Isn't. Over. (But that's a story for another day.)
They sent me a planner as part of my welcome package, and, though I've never been one for planners (or planning at all, really), it's been useful as I shift gears. Fellow writers: knowing exactly what you're going to do in a day, a week, and a month? It helps a bunch.
The most significant scheduling change has to do with my book, which I'm happy to say is making real headway for the first time in a long time. Working on it has been fun, liberating, and a breath of fresh air. It may be long-term stuff that isn't netting me anything now, but who ever said writing is all about the money? Well, a lot of people, actually, but it isn't true! I'm just writing a story I enjoy reading, one I hope others will enjoy reading, too.
I've also signed on with Copycat, a premiere copywriting company. It's an exciting prospect for many reasons, but mostly because copywriting is relatively new ground for me. I was never one for school, but I've always loved learning.
Um... that's about it. It's a lot, though! That's good. Life is still slow in semi-lax quarantine, so having a lot to do—a lot I want to do, no less—feels nice.
Ciao for now, Dear Reader. Hope you've got a lot going on, too!
